A very close call at CGS West Midlands Church Golf Cup 2015

Earlier this summer on 17 July, 2015 the West Midlands Church Golf Cup took place as a qualifier for the CGS National Church Golf Cup in Oxfordshire. The day was sunny but breezy and 16 intrepid golfers plotted their way around Sutton Coldfield Golf Club’s course in their endeavours to win.

Kindly sponsored by Albion Trading Services and Banners Gate Community Church it was a close competition with the winners being a father and son team of Trevor and Jake Richardson representing Solihull Renewal Church with a total of 40 points. In second place were George Patterson and Greg Edwards also with 40 points but only losing out on a back nine countback. George and Greg represented Banners Gate Community Church. Also in the prizes in third place but back on 36 points were John Dadd and Paul Evans also representing Banners Gate Community Church.

Other prizes of two nearest the pin, two nearest the pin in two shots and longest drive were won by Jake Richardson (3), Greg Edwards and Phil Yates (Walsall Christian Centre).

Golfer Alison Nicholas graciously gave out the prizes and after the evening meal Rob Whittington from Sutton Coldfield Baptist Church gave an inspiring talk about how he came to faith and why... although his jokes left most of us groaning!
