Book your CGS National Church Golf Cup 2016 place

The Christian Golf Society’s (CGS) National Church Golf Cup in partnership with CVM, takes place this summer. Is there anyone you can send to represent your church?

The idea is; you stage your own church/men’s group golf outreach event and then send your winners to the National Church Golf Cup Final. Or just send a pair or four ball without staging an event first. Come and join us for a great day of golf and a Christian message.

The final is on Saturday 20 August
at Waterstock Golf Club, Oxfordshire.

The cost of taking part in the finals day is £49pp.
That fee includes coffee, bacon roll, green fees, prizes and meal.

McDowell and Harwood Crowned CGS Essex Church Golf Cup Champions 2016

The CGS Essex Church Golf Cup 2016 was held at Forrester Park Golf and Country Club, Great Totham, Nr Maldon on Friday 25 July. The weather was wonderful and set the tee for a great day of golf in the Essex countryside.

Pairs came from The Followers Golf Society, Leigh Road Baptist Church, Romford Elim to see 6 teams out on the fairway competing in a friendly atmosphere for the 2016 title. The winners of which would earn their place in the CGS National Church Golf Cup at Waterstock Golf Club, Oxfordshire in August (other direct entries very welcome)

The eventual winners were Carl McDowell and Dave Harwood representing Romford Elim! Congratulations to them for a great performance and to the opportunity represent Essex int he National Final.

The day was capped beautifully with a lovely meal at the Forrester Park Club House and a little close up illusion from Rev Nick Lear, bamboozling most of the guests with his slight of hand. He also left us with a message for us all to consider about who and what we were made for.

A great day was had by all, and we thank all the entrants for making the day what it was.

22 September 2016 Moderator’s Golf Challenge – 4-ball Golf Competition at the Royal Burgess Golf Club, Edinburgh

The current Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Rt Rev Russell Barr, is kindly hosting a golf event at the prestigious Royal Burgess Club in Edinburgh to raise money for CrossReach www.crossreach.org.uk, the Social Care Council of the Church of Scotland.
Registration is at 07.45 prior to a shotgun start. Cost is £270 for a team of 4 players.

What’s included:
  • four-ball stroke play competition over 6,511 yard Par 71 course set in beautiful parkland
  • open challenge on the three Par 3 holes against one of:

                Bill Lockie (Senior PGA Professional Championship winner 2008)

We are excited to announce the opening of bookings for the CGS Essex Church Golf Cup 2016.

Taking place on Friday 22nd July 2016
Forresters Park Golf & Country Club
Forrester Park, Beckingham Road, Great Totham, Maldon CM9 8EA

The cost is just £39 per person.
Registration begins at Forrester Park at 11am, with the first tee time at 12 noon.

There will be a welcoming coffee/tea and bacon roll on arrival, followed by 18 holes of golf, playing a pairs better-ball Stableford competition. 
There will also be “Nearest the Pin” and “Longest Drive” competitions too with prizes for the winners.

The post-match meal will be followed with the prize presentation and the CGS is also pleased to announce that Rev. Nick Lear has agreed to be the guest speaker for the day too. Amongst other things, Nick is a member of the Magic Circle.

The winning pair will win free entry into the CGS National Church Golf Cup Final in August in Oxfordshire.

Both Ladies and Gents are welcome to enter. It promises to be another great day of golf and friendship.
