Eady and Mott secure National Church Golf title 2016

Saturday, 20 August saw the CGS National Church Golf Cup 2016 take place at Waterstock Golf Club, Oxfordshire. 24 players played in pairs to compete for the national title coming from Cheshire, Northants, Essex, West Midlands and Surrey. A great day was had by all with eventual winners being Julie Eady and Camilla Mott from Leigh Road Baptist Church in Essex scoring a massive 67 points in windy conditions. In second place representing Refresh Church, Molesey, Surrey David Skull and Shane Cortiel with 65 points.

The nearest the pin prize was taken by Dave Holmes.

In this Olympic year, Mark Blythe a London 2012 Torch bearer was our special guest speaker. Mark spoke of how things aren't how they first appear in sport and life. He said that as his life has had different twists and turns, circumstances made him reassess what he thought he knew about Jesus, the Church and the Christian faith. He was surprised at what he found, and how excellent it was. He challenged us all to explore the truth behind Jesus for ourselves.

Eventual winner Julie Eady said, "We had a great relaxed day of golf and friendly competition, I'd recommend golfers out there to enter and come and play next year!".
