Happy New Year. We are looking forward to a great year out on the Golf course with many regional qualifiers and county cups in the early stages of planning for 2012.

We are actively looking for more churches and golfers in churches to organise a cup in their county in 2012. If this interests you please do get in contact with us for more information.

You can also visit our Organisers Area to download our handy organisers guide – this will help you see what’s involved. It’s currently the 2011 guide which will be updated shortly along with the rest of the site. However it will give you an idea for now.

The Christian School, Takeley (TCST) is holding its first ever fundraising golf day on Monday 12th March 2012 at the Bishops Stortford Golf Club. Entry is £40 per player (four ball teams) and includes food afterwards as well as prizes.

Organiser Linda Cole said "We are very fortunate in that the event as secured support from some wonderful sponsors: Elms BMW have sponsored the nearest the pin competition, Gray and Company have sponsored the prize for the best individual and Lyon Cole the longest drive (on the fairway!)."

Press Release: Kent's Crofton Baptist Church, Brings National Golf Cup Back to County

Despite the pessimistic weather forecast for the weekend, the 2011 National Church Golf Cup was played in exceptionally temperate conditions at Donnington grove Golf & Country Club, Berkshire on Sunday 11th September. The climate was very welcome as it made for some exceptional golf from the seven teams playing for the title of national champions.

The 2010 National Champions Ron Crosby and Cliff Britcher, representing Eynsford Christian Fellowship (Baptist), Kent started well in defence of their title. Ron playing off 15 secured two gross pars at the opening two holes which enabled them to take an early lead, although the other Kent team of Yomi Agiginni and Femi Adesanya representing Crofton Baptist Church took little time to make a mark, registering four points at the second when Femi – playing off 12 – birdied the 511 yard par-5 2nd hole.

Camilla Mott and Lesley Blythe, Molesey Community Church were the winners of the first women’s section held in Surrey this year, however despite being regular visitors to the course, they were struggling to turn net bogeys into anything more. Consequently their challenge faltered very early on. Lesley did however par the short par-3 8th and with a shot got some momentum going for the team.

Elsewhere around the course Greg Edwards and George Patterson, West Midlands Cup Champions representing Banners Gate Community Church, started steadily until at the long par-4 4th, Greg (24 handicap) unleashed two excellent shots to the green and celebrated with a gross par and 4 points. He followed this up two holes later at the testing par-5 6th with another gross par and 4 points. This excellent run of scoring put this pair firmly in the hunt for the title.

The other competitors, David Coates and Dave Scogings, Essex Cup Winners representing Oasis Christian Fellowship, John Harris and Barry Cleveland representing Launceston Community Church and Vickesh Chauhan and Paul Burden, Surrey Cup Winners winners representing Molesey Community Church, were clocking up points albeit without the zest and vigour of the leading groups from Crofton Baptist Church and Banners Gate Community Church.

At the halfway mark, Femi and Yomi had stormed to 23 points with the players dovetailing well to score consistently throughout the nine holes. Femi starting well during the opening holes, with Yomi coming into his own, scoring heavily towards the end of the outward half.

In second place were Greg and George who with the help of Greg’s two 4-point holes had got within three points of the leaders. This could have been even closer had they not failed to add to their score at the relatively easy 9th hole, a 317 yard dogleg par-4.

Close behind Greg and George were Paul and Vickesh from Molesey Community Church and reigning champions Ron and Cliff from Eynsford Community Church. All of these teams continued to feel confident that this could be their year. Following up were Camilla and Lesley from Surrey and David and Dave from Essex. They were both on 15 points, some eight points behind the leaders. If either pair wanted to stand a chance of winning, they would need to put in nine holes of the highest order.

The inward nine started well for Greg and George as Greg again belied his modest handicap with 3 points at the SI 1 10th hole and one better at the par-4 11th when he parred the hole for another 4 points. This was certainly putting pressure on Yomi and Femi at the top of the leaderboard. Their start to the back nine was shaky in comparison and Greg and George’s charge had not only closed the gap at the top but had forced their way into first place.

In the other groups Vickesh and Paul were starting to build some momentum with, in particular, Vickesh playing some excellent golf. Ron and Cliff were also not giving up their title without a fight and Cliff started to replicate the form which brought them the title in 2010. Cliff managed 11 points in the four holes from the 11th including a gross birdie and 4 points at the near drivable par-4 14th.

Camilla and Lesley, were starting to score better and more consistently however in allowing the leading group to get away early they were always facing an uphill task to close the gap. Accordingly they finished with a respectful 32 points total, due in part to a fine 3 points from Camilla at the difficult 376 yard par-4 16th.

David and Dave too started to get their act together after the turn and 20 points was an excellent return for some very accomplished golf over the back nine holes. David Coates signing off their round with a super gross par at the eighteenth for 3 points.

The men’s winners from the Surrey Cup, Vickesh and Paul were perhaps a little disappointed with their overall effort although this was their first time at Donnington Grove and they know they could do very much better. A second half 16 points to add to their front side 18 points was scant reward for two golfers who normally play so much better off their respective handicaps.

The finish to this year’s event was so very close. Yomi and Femi’s halfway lead was being tested by three other pairs. Ron and Cliff were putting together the best of the second half performances with both players, but Cliff in particular, playing superb golf to build a total of 40 points.

Barry and John from Cornwall finished amazingly with Barry parring the last 4 holes, each for 3 points. This 12 points haul over the final part of the round elevated them up to 40 points too and alongside Ron and Cliff.

Greg and George also scored 3 points at the last and whilst their round quietened down a bit after Greg’s fireworks at the start of the back-nine, they did continue to tick the scoreboard over nicely. A points total of 41 was excellent and could easily have secured the title for them, however it was Yomi and Femi who themselves continued to play great golf despite the other groups breathing down their necks. Two solid pars from Femi at the end was enough to get them 6 points and with it a one point lead over Greg and George.

So Femi and Yomi win the CGS National Church Golf Cup for Crofton Baptist Church as the county of Kent retains the national title. It was a wonderful day to experience with many of the finalists playing fine golf. However in the end it was Femi Adesanya and Yomi Agiginni who leave Donnington Grove Golf & Country Club with the trophy and the title of National Church Golf Champions.

7 pairs ready themselves for the Christian Golf Societies - National Church Cup Final this weekend

The 5th National Christian Golf Cup Finals take place this coming Sunday 11th and Monday 12th September 2011 at Donnington Grove Golf and Country Club, Berkshire.

We have 14 players from five regions competing for the title and around 10 other players coming from the regions as organisers of their events. It's it going to be a great two day event.

The final winners will win the prestigious National Church Golf Cup and the National Champions title for the year with their names and the church they represent engraved and immortalised on the trophy.

The finalist will battle for the third year on the now famous Donington Grove Golf and Country Club course in Newbury for the title of Christian Golf Society (CGS) - National Church Golf Cup Champions 2011, which has seen 96 golfers competing in qualifying rounds.

The National Final takes place on Sunday 11th September with an overnight stay, presentation meal and after dinner speaker - John Harris of CGS Cornwall and Gideon Anti-Aids Foundation in the evening. Monday 12th September will see an opportunity to play a more relaxed game of golf with the new friends made from the different regions.

Martin Eady, CGS National Final organiser said, "We are looking forward to a fantastic weekend of golf. It is a great achievement for these players to reach the CGS National Final. Our prayer is that the Christian Golf Society events will provide a way for golfers to explore the claims of Jesus and the difference he makes to the lives of those that follow him in a relaxed but relevant way."

We believe a golf competition is an excellent setting for people to share their faith with non-Christian friends through a common passion for golf. Reaching out to friends through sport is probably one of the most straightforward opportunities we have. The friendships we form with sporting friends are often far stronger than those we make with other people in our day-to-day lives. The truth is that as a Christian in an increasingly faithless world we may be the only bible a person reads as they see how you live your life – or in this instance, how you play your golf.

Press Release: Austerfield and Fielding triumph over 26 competitors to claim place at National Church Golf Cup 2011

The Christian Golf Society (CGS) Cornwall Golf Cup was held on Saturday 20th August. The organiser John and Matt were delighted that 26 golfers entered the competition, 24 male and 2 female entrants.

The day was held at CGS volunteer Matt Parsons' home club, Merlin Golf Club, nr Newquay. The weather was a bit blustery and there was the odd shower, as you would expect in Cornwall! However, overall it stayed dry and everyone enjoyed the day.

After the competition we all enjoyed a meal together where the prizes of the day were presented. Mark Austerfield (Merlin) and Ian Fielding (St.Austell) were the prize winners, whilst Barry Cleveland won the nearest the pin prize and Jack Shepherd the nearest after two shots on the 18th.

After the presentations, Matt introduced the winner Mark Austerfield, 48 pts, to the audience and Mark gave his testimony. Mark spoke of how he had died while at hospital with a heart attack, and shared on the impact this has had on him, and how surviving this has changed his life. Mark spoke of completing an Alpha course to discover more about Christianity. He now finds himself as a strong, born again believer with a faith in Jesus and fit enough to resume normal life. Although he is now aware that God has a divine purpose for his life. The testimony certainly gave everyone something to think about.

Cornwall will be sending two representatives to the National Church Golf Cup in to take place at Donnington Grove Golf Club in September.

Press Release: Essex visitors loose out by 1 point to Yomi Agiginni and Femi Adesanya in CGS Kent Golf Cup

The Christian Golf Society's Kent Golf Cup took place on Saturday 23rd July at High Elms Golf Club, near Orpington.

It was a very enjoyable day and a close competition. Playing better ball stableford the winning pair, Yomi Agiginni and Femi Adesanya, scored 43 points and were closely followed by the runners-up, Matt Double and John Lambern, on 42 points.

The rain stayed away which was answer to prayer! The after dinner speaker, Rev. Martyn Travers, Senior Minister from Orpington Baptist Church, was also appreciated by the competitiors.

Thank you to all those who took part and best wishes to Yomi and Femi for the National final taking place at Donnington Grove Golf & Country Club in September.

Press Release: Patterson and Greg Edwards bring home 4th CGS West Midlands Golf Cup for Banners Gate Community Church

A great day was had on Friday 22^nd July at Sutton Coldfield Golf Club for the 4^th Annual CGS West Midlands Golf Cup sponsored by Banners Gate Community Church and EB Brands UK. The day started with a bacon sandwich and coffee. The first shot being struck at 1.30pm. The weather started cloudy and warm (for me anyway) although we did get a slow moving shower of rain that lasted for about 5 holes. The format was better ball stableford played off 3/4 handicap

The winners were George Patterson and Greg Edwards representing Banners Gate Community Church who scored 43 points. This though does not tell the whole story.

15 pairs took part in the event which is our highest number of competitors in our 4 years of holding the golf day and every year has seen a growth in the numbers playing.

The first shots were struck by the eventual winners, the first straight down the middle, followed by his partner, also down the middle but 20 yards past him. One made a par 4, the other a birdie 3 to get off to a tidy start and lay down the gauntlet for the rest who were all watching. The sponsors golf brollies were well used during the 45 mins of rain and the balls were left littering the heather to no doubt be found by grateful members over the coming weeks.

After the front nine the eventual winners were only in 11^th place with a score of 18 points with John Dadd and Paul Evans (also representing Banners Gate Community Church) having a storming front nine with 23 points but only one point clear of Alan Cobbald and Andy Watkinson (Sutton Coldfield Baptist Church) and Phil Yates and Keith Watts (Walsall Community Church).

However, on the back nine, which is traditionally the more difficult part of the course, George and Greg scored 25 points to take their total to 43 points which included a 30 foot putt on the 18^th for a birdie (net eagle) for 4 points! Alan and Andy came back in 21 points also to finish on 43 points but came second on count back whilst the early leaders John and Paul finished with 20 points on the back nine also with a total of 43 points to finish third on count back. Phil and Keith faded on the back nine to finish fifth.

Graham Pratt from Banners Gate Community Church was the after dinner speaker and he spoke of winners and losers including Seve Ballesteros who was seen by many as a winner with treasure on earth from his golf winnings and sponsorship. However, following his unfortunate death, where was he now? Whereas Graham himself has had a difficult time for the past few years but knows that his treasure is in heaven because of Jesus Christ who has forgiven his sins.

CGS Essex Golf Cup: Close call but Scogings and Coates bring cup home for Oasis Christian Fellowship

This year’s running of the Christian Golf Society’s Essex Golf Cup proved to be the closest competition in its five year history. Moreover the impressive quality of the golf by all the teams made for a very memorable day with good scoring being the order of the day.

Three Rivers Golf & Country Club on Saturday 9^th July 2011 was the setting again for this annual event pitting teams from churches in an 18 hole Stableford match. It was good to welcome back familiar friends who have supported this event on many occasions, along with new faces too, all of whom had their eye on the first prize of a weekend trip to the National Final at Berkshire’s Donnington Grove.

It was Roger Culliford and Stuart Chandler, representing Earls Hall Baptist Church who set the early pace, with Roger in particular scoring heavily over the front nine. Four net birdies, supported by Stuart with a net birdie of his own gave the pair a lead at the halfway stage with 22 points.

However despite this impressive points haul, the quality of the play meant that they only had a slender lead at the halfway stage.

No fewer that three of the challenging teams were only a point behind at the halfway mark. Roger Whipp and Gary McCullam (St Chads, Chadwell Heath) amassed 21 points, thanks largely to the excellent play of their 8-handicapper Gary who was striking the ball very well around a course that was unfamiliar to him. Their team gelled well with Roger ensuring their score kept improving whenever Gary was slightly awry.

Dan Dobson and Lewis Fraser (Kingdom Faith, London) were also well in the hunt at the halfway stage with Dan belying his modest handicap. His contribution – including a net eagle at the 360 yard par 4 seventh, also had them on 21 points after nine holes.

Emphasising the tightness at the top of the leaderboard, Dave Scogings and David Coates (representing Oasis Christian Fellowship, Benfleet) also collected 21 points. This pair worked very well together, dovetailing nicely through the opening holes, which included 4 points when David birdied (net eagled) the short par-3 ninth.

Mick Neill and Barry Hagland (also representing Oasis Christian Fellowship) were also to keep with touching distance with a total of 20 points which included 4 net birdies between them. The rest of the field – whilst playing good golf – were being left behind somewhat. This included the current National champions Cliff Britcher and Ron Crosby (Eynsford Community Church) who were languishing in eighth place.

The second nine begins with three gentle par 4s and the leading teams took advantage shooting net birdies and in the case of Lewis Fraser a net eagle at the tenth. In fact as much as Dan contributed to their team in the front nine, so Lewis awakened on the second half shooting a personal 20 points in the teams total of 21 points. Their final total of 42 would have been enough to win many a competition, however on a day of scoring as was being witnessed, it was only good enough for third spot.

Roger Culliford and Stuart Chandler and Dave Scogings and David Coates were now taking the match away from their fellow competitors.

Roger and Stuart were the first group to finish and Roger and Stuart’s efforts to secure this title for Earls Hall Baptist Church for the first time were awe-inspiring. Their total of 21 points for the inward-nine included three net birdies and a four-pointer for Roger at the uphill par-5 14^th. Their overall total of 43 points would need some extra special effort of be overtaken.

Whilst Roger and Stuart were knocking it around competently, Dave Scoging was helping Oasis Christian Fellowship to amass a very competitive total, personally contributing to his team’s score on the last 7 holes. This included four points for a birdie two at the 104 yard 15^th and a superb par – net birdie – at the imposing finishing hole.

The excitement of the day continued as both teams finished on 43 points. It was only Dave and David’s one point advantage on the homeward nine holes that enabled them to win the competition on countback.

Press Release: Burden & Chauhan bring Molesey Community Church success at CGS Surrey Cup 2011

CGS Surrey Cup 2011 Winners:
Vikesh Chauhan and Paul Burden representing Molesey Community Church

Paul Burden and Vickesh Chauhan representing Molesey Community Church (MCC) won the 4th Surrey Christian Golf Cup on Sunday 3rd July. The cup was held at Hurtmore Golf Cup near Guildford and in a Stableford pairs comp the duo romped home with 56 points.

CGS Surrey competitors watch on as Vickesh tees off on the 1st

Vickesh also won the nearest the pin comp with Mickey Simmonds (men) and Camilla Mott (Ladies) taking the Longest Drive prizes.

Mark Blythe, National Christian Golf Golf founder said, "We had a great day of golf with good weather. It was great to be able to share a little about the Christian faith as well after the golf. This year we will be sending new champions to the National Christian Golf Cup in September. We wish Paul and Vickesh all the best in bringing the National Cup home to Surrey".

Paul & Vickesh will now represent Surrey and Molesey Community Church in the National Christian Golf Cup Final in September against other County Champions. Camilla Mott & Lesley Blythe won the Ladies division and will also play in the final.

David Elcock, one of the volunteer organisers of the CGS Essex and National Golf Cups will be interviewed on BBC Essex Radio this Sunday morning.

The BBC Sunday Morning Breakfast Show which is hosted by Ian Wyatt will bring together a mix of Faith news and interviews and great Sunday morning music.

The short interview about CGS Essex Golf Cup on Saturday 9th July is due to air around 8.40am on Sunday 3rd July. So if you are an early riser please do listen in.

National Christian Golf Cup Final 2011

The National Christian Golf Cup Final 2011 will once again take place at the Donnington Grove and Country Club. Newbury. The National Final on 11th and 12th September 2011 is a two day affair. The competitive golf being played on the Sunday for the prestigious National Christian Golf Cup and the Monday being a day of relaxed social golf in the beautiful surroundings.

The Donnington Grove Estate is set in a delightful and secluded position on the outskirts of Newbury and is overlooked by the historic Donnington Castle. The present house was built by James Pettit Andrews between 1763 and 1772 to designs by John Chute.

As in previous year’s the Christian Golf Society has booked the final as a stay and play package and the CGS Regional events are covering the cost of the regional winners golf, a twin room in the beautiful onsite accommodation, evening meal on the 11th and breakfast on the 12th. Other costs (travel, room extras and supplements, drinks, lunch on arrival if required) need to be met by the individuals.

All regional winners are asked to confirm their attendance with Martin.

Essex Christian Golf Cup promises chance to compete in National final

Entries are being invited from avid golfers for the fith annual Essex Golf Cup to be held at the popular centrally located venue of Three Rivers Golf & Country Club, Cold Norton on Satuday 9th July 2011.

Following on from the success of previous years the competition is being organised by the Christian Golf Society(CGS). The Essex cup will be one of six county/regional cups taking place across the country with the winners qualifying to play in the National Golf Cup to take place at Donnington Grove, Newbury on Sunday 11th & Monday 12th September 2011. The prize for the Essex Golf Cup is the prestious trophy entry and a paid place for the National Finals in September. We are extremely grateful to RichardsonsCycles.co.uk, Leigh-on-Sea for sponsoring the CGS Essex Golf Cupand a main sponsor of the event.

The competition will be run as Pairs Stableford, played off full handicap. However, here lies the twist - one member of each team has to be a regular church goer/Christian.

James Butcher, co-founder of the Christian Golf Society explained "The intention is for the tournament to bring together friends with a shared passion for golf in healthy competition. The day will also give the opportunity for the golfers to chat about the Christian faith in informal relaxed atmosphere"

The day will start with a late breakfast on arrival, 18 holes of golf on the Three Rivers Course, followed by an early evening meal with our sought after guest speaker, Golfer, Stock Broker and Vicar the Rev Ian Smith, from Stock, Essex.

Entry to the competition cost £39 per player. Entry forms can be downloaded from our website www.christiangolfsociety.org.uk or call James Butcher on 07752 46921. There are also posters and invites available online that can used by Christian golfers to invite their friends.

About the Christian Golf Society

The Christian Golf Society was founded in 2007 to create competitive golf opportunities through which Christians with a passion for golf can share the good news of Jesus with their non-Christian friends. We believe a golf competition is an excellent setting for people to share their faith with non-Christian friends through a common passion for golf. Reaching out to friends through sport is probably one of the most straightforward opportunities we have. The friendships we form with sporting friends are often far stronger than those we make with other people in our day-to-day lives. The truth is that as a Christian in an increasingly faithless world you may be the only bible a person reads as they see how you live your life – or in this instance, how you play your golf.

The Christian Golf Society encourages people to adopt the Christians in Sport approach of pray, play and say. PRAY for your friends who aren't Christians. PLAY your golf in a way that honours God. Be prepared to SAY something about the promise of Christ.

The Christian Golf Society comes under auspices of Avanti Ministries. It is also a Chapter of the Christian Golf Association. Further along the Fairway the Christian Golf Society has a five-year plan to build up a network of events across the country, with the winners of each event invited to a National Final in the September of each year.

These golf competitions will either be organised directly by the Christian Golf Society, organised by a committee on our behalf or organised by one of a number of other Christian organisations with which we have links.

When I was asked to write my story for the Christian Golf Society website, I suddenly became more nervous than I have ever been standing on the first tee.

A few years ago I was lucky enough to make it to the National Final of an English Golf Union competition and I was announced on to the tee over a microphone. I was shaking just taking a practice swing.

I wasn’t sure why I was nervous about what I was to write here, because it’s not like it’s a surprise to you that I am a Christian, after all I am an organiser of the CGS.

Then I realised that it was because I felt that to put down in words for all to read, people may expect me to be perfect, or a good person. I didn’t think I was that at all, certainly not good enough to write my story on a website. This then made me laugh as recollected that in a round-about sort of way, it was thoughts like these that brought me to decide to become a follower of Jesus - a Christian 9 years ago.

As I grew up, although my Mum went to Church, my Dad’s view was that faith was something people decided for themselves and shouldn’t be imposed – like most kids, I thought Church and Sunday school was boring and I was delighted at the chance to stay at home and play football.

I started to go to Church when I was about 15 and although I got baptised around that time, I also discovered beer and that was far more exciting. I know when you look at my baby-face photo above, you’re probably wondering how I was getting served in pubs as a 15 year old, but that’s Essex for you!

Throughout my final teen years and twenties, I had what most people thought was a good life – decent exam results - beer – university – beer – going to watch Arsenal FC at home and away – beer – playing sports – beer – decent job, fairly new car, my own pad – some more beer.

Come 1999 I hadn’t been remotely sober on a Christmas Eve for well over a decade but thanks to being let down by my best mate, I ended up having to drive when I went out and I spent the evening drinking soft drinks. Worse still, I agreed to go to midnight mass!

So there I am, stone cold sober on Christmas Eve and at Church, a bit of a turn up for the books. The vicar started talking that night about how some people thought of Christians as “good people” and wouldn’t commit to Jesus because they didn’t think they could be good enough. That was me! It was like that scene in the Blues Brothers when they are in Church and this light shines on John Belushi. I felt like God was talking to me, saying – "Hey James, are you listening?"

I suddenly realised although I had been baptised all those years ago I knew nothing. But I wanted to know more. As I left Church that night I took a booklet home with me which contained Luke’s gospel from the Bible and started to read it. I attempted to go the Church the following weekend, but it was shut - very embarrassing. A few weeks later I started going to an Alpha course. If you haven’t heard of Alpha, it's a course where people from outside the Church are invited to have a meal, hear about what Christian’s believe and challenge them about that.

Alpha gave me a chance to work out what I believed. I was talking to a guy there one evening about the crucifixion. I told him that I’d seen the film Ben Hur so I believed Jesus got crucified after a chariot race! However, I wanted to know whether it was true and what happened. The next week he said if I was interested in knowing more about the events of the first Easter then I might be interested in this book he had found for me. It explored the evidence for Jesus, the crucifixion and His resurrection.

Once I made my own mind up about who Jesus was and what I believed had happened I faced that big question – what was I going to do about it? Later on during 2000, very quietly and very privately I became a Christian.

It’s difficult to describe sometimes how that’s changed my life, what's different? One thing I can say is a couple years later I realised that there hadn’t been a single week that had gone by in over 10 years when I hadn’t drunk; sometimes heavily, sometimes to excess and far too many times with damaging consequences. I decided to stop drinking for a month. It's one of the hardest things I have done and the temptations during that time were massive – but so was the sense of release.

I feel I was really lucky. I got asked to go to a service, yet no one minded if I didn’t go. The Alpha Course was the same. My friend Andy told me one night the Jesus was like chocolate. He could tell me how great Chocolate was – but really I had to unwrap it for myself if I wanted to find out. If someone had come along trying to preach to me and convert me I’d have just switched off – much like I do at work when the Trade Union Stewards get going.

That’s where my involvement with the Christian Golf Society started. I wanted to be involved in something where people knew that some of the people there believe in Jesus and go to Church, yet there was no pressure – no one had the bible shoved down their throats. Because that way if someone wants to find out more they can – and if they don’t then there’s always the golf.

It was in 1998 following an Alpha course that the truth dawned on me about what being a Christian was all about. Then, over a period of time, I grew to understand God and know Jesus. It wasn't an instant transition, rather a slow recognition that my life was changing and for the better too. It wasn’t long afterwards that I wanted to publicly acclaim my faith, and was baptised at Leigh Road Baptist Church (LRBC) in November 2000.

Ever since, I have sought to use my God-given talents wherever and whenever possible to share the fantastic Good News. Using these skills along with a big passion for golf, I helped the team form the Christian Golf Society.

I play the game regularly and at one stage a few years back managed to get my handicap down to single figures. Alas, it now hovers around the 12-13 mark!

I met Julie at our church (LRBC) and been married for nine years. We now live in Leigh-on-Sea. She too, is a keen golfer and both actively serve as members at LRBC.
